Program used: PSP 9

Supplies: Kit “Hoppy Easter”. The kit can be bought at Digital Scrap World.

My template plus PSP Picture Frame. They can be downloaded here. C/p the picture frame to the following folder (/varies from which Windows version you use, but the prinicipal is the same): c:/documents/MyPSPFiles/PictureFrames.

Optional plugins: EyeCandy 4000 (Gradient Glow) and EyeCandy 6 (Perspective Shadow)

* Open my template. Duplicate and close original. Save your new canvas. This is now your working canvas.

* Open paper 3 and 4 plus solid paper blue.

* Resize all the papers to 500*500 px. (Smartsize). C/p them to the template. Close the originals without saving them.

* x-out the all layers in the canvas except the dotted paper (/paper 3). Then go to the layer called scallop edge, select all, float, defloat and then go to the solid paper (blue) and promote to selection. Repeat with the stripe layer. This time promote the pink paper layer (/paper 4).

* C/p the bunny plus the ribbon and the ribbon bow to the canvas. Resize the bunny with 30%. Mirror. Resize the ribbon and bow with 18%. Rotate the bow with 60 degrees to the right.

* I wrote “Have A Hoppy Easter” with the text tool. I used a font called rhino dino. It can be downloaded from Kevin and Amanda’s font site: http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/freescrapbookfonts/rhino-dino/

* Rasterise the text. Open EC 4000 Gradient Glow and apply these settings:

* Apply a shadow to all layers (/except the dotted background paper). I used EC 6 Perspective Shadow. For the bow I used a perspective shadow:

The rest of the embellishments (including the promoted paper layers) was given a drop shadow:

* Go to the bottom visible layer (/the dotted paper) and apply my picture frame lhsINKEDEDGE:

* Move the frame/inked edge layer so that it is below the ribbon layer.

The tag is finished! This is what mine looks like:

I hope you had fun! :)

Programs used: PSP 9 and Animation Shop

Supplies: I used one of my own quick pages for this tutorial. You can buy the quick page at Digital Scrap World.

If you would rather use the kit “Pirate For A Day”, you can buy it here.

I also use a blinkie template made by myself, you can download it here.

* Open QP#1. Duplicate and close the orignal. Save.

* Use the Selection Tool (Rectangle) and make a selection, that looks something like this:

* Crop to selection.

* Resize so that the width is 100 px. Resize all layers (Smartsize).

* Add a new layer. Flood fill with black. Select all/Float/Defloat. Modify/Contract 1 px. Press delete. Select none.

* Merge the two layers. Duplicate this new merged layer eight times, so you have nine layers all in all.

* Save!

—-

Launch Animation Shop

—-

* Open the file, you just saved i PSP.

Also open my blinkie template.

* Select all frames in both animations. Drag the text/blinkie part onto the canvas, you just made in PSP.

Place it something like this:

Remember you can always use the Undo button (/needs to be done in both animations), if you get it placed “wrongly”. I had to use that option a couple of times myself. ;)

* Now the blinkie is almost finished. It just needs a little fine tuning. This is what I did:

1) In frame 9 I changed the Frame Property to a display time of 25 (/instead of default 10)

2) In frame 1 I set the display time to 2.

3) In frame 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 I set the display time to 7.

4) And finally in frame 4 I set it to 15.

* Save your animation as a gif file.

Your blinkie is finished! :)

Supplies: scrap kit “Forever And Ever” by Lise-Lotte Sunesen. It can be bought at Digital Scrap World. The kit is available at a very favorable price, because it is one of my older kits and therefore in the Bargain Bin.

Font Carlotta. It can be downloaded for free here.

* Open paper 1. Duplicate and resize to 600 px. (Smartsize)

* Close the original paper. Save the new paper. This is now your working canvas.

cardboard piece (15% plus duplicate – on duplicate mirror, flip)

* Duplicate the pink flower. Rotate one of them (I rotated mine 55 degrees).

* Place everything to your liking.

* Chose the inner of the frame with the magic wand. Modify/expand with 2 pixels. Then go to the paper layer and promote to layer. X-out the original paper layer.

* Add a new layer. Make it the bottom layer, flood fill with white.

* Drag the new paper layer (/the promoted selection), so that the cardboard pieces are beneath it.

*Add some shadow. I used Eye Candy 5 (Perspective Shadow), because I wanted to use a perspective shadow on several of the items. Including the bride.

* Add your text/tag. I wrote Dreams with font Carlotta size 80.

I hope, you enjoyed this tutorial! :)

* I wrote “Merry Christmas” with font Propecy Script size 110. I picked a red color from the card to write the text with.

* Go to layer 1 (/this is an empty layer). Select it with the magic wand, then crop to selection.

* Go to the paper layer and apply Picture Frame lhsINKEDEDGE with these settings:

* Set the picture frame layer to blend mode Screen.

* Time to add some shadows to your card. I used Eye Candy 6 for this. I didn´t add any shadow to the text.

* Whith the freehand selection select inside the frame. Go to the paper layer and press delete.

* My card looks like this now:

* Time to dig out a picture to use in the card.

* C/p the picture behind the paper layer. Resize and reposition the picture as needed.

* Your card is now finished.  Remember to save!

* If you want to use the card digitally (i.e. e-mail it to family and friends), then  duplicate the card and resize it to approx. 600 px. (smartsize -all layers checked). And save as a jpg.

* If you want to print your card follow these steps:

1. Duplicate the canvas. Close the original.

2. Merge all.

3. Flip the canvas, then mirror it.

4. Go to the print tool and apply these settings:

5. Fold the printed card and cut away the excess.

Supplies: kit Last Days Of Summer. The kit can be bought at Digital Scrap World.

Plus a tube of your choice. I used one of Kitty´s. It can be downloaded here.

* Open paper 02 from the kit. Duplicate and resize to 600*600 px. (SmartSize).  Promote background to layer. Save! This is now our working canvas.

* C/p the string (01), the leaf heart and the gingham ribbon bow to the canvas. Resize all three elements to 25%.

* Keep the heart centered in the middle. Move the string and ribbon, so they are placed like this:

* Go to the string layer and with your freehand selection tool select the top part of it.

* Delete and deselect.

* C/p the tube of your choice above the paper layer. I used a tube by Kitty. It is in the zip file (/at the top of this tutorial)

* Move the tube so that the face is in the heart. Set the blend mode to Screen.

* Go to the heart layer. With the Magic Wand select within it. Expand the selection with 2 px. Invert the selection. Then go to the tube layer and press delete. Repeat with the paper layer. Deselect.

* In the kit find flower 11. C/p it to the canvas. Resize to 25%. Place the flower as the bottom layer. Move the flower, so it is placed like shown beneath. Duplicate the flower and mirror.

* Part of the flowers are “sticking out” at the bottom of the heart. Select those areas and press delete.

* Open flower 01 from the kit. C/p to the canvas. Resize to 25%. Move the flower to be under the ribbon layer. Move the flower so your canvas looks like this:

* Add your name (/or wordart). I wrote “love” with font Pea Sandra size 36. I had picked a color from the string. Place it in the string circle.

* Only one thing left to do, namely adding shadows. I used Eye Candy 6 to make both drop and perspective shadows to my tag. You can easily use PSP´s drop shadow instead. If you want it to be a perspective shadow, then add the shadow as a separate layer and then warp it with your Warp Brush.

* Resize you tag if needed.

* Save! FINITO! :)

Here is my finished tag:

Supplies: Kit Spring Garden by Lise-Lotte Sunesen. The kit can be bought here.

Plus my spring template. It can be downloaded here.

*  Open the template. Duplicate. Save.

* Open paper 4 and 7. Resize to 600*600 px. (SmartSize).

* C/p paper 4 (/the blue one) above the “Letters Inner” layer. C/p paper 7 (green) above the “Letters Outline” layer. X-out all four layers.

* Go to  layer “Letters Inner”. Select all/Float/Defloat. Then while still selected go to the blue paper layer and promote selection to layer.

* Repeat the process with the outline layer and the green paper.

* Open the flowers you want to use. Resize them approx. 15%. C/p them to the canvas above  the promoted blue layer.

* Place a flower beneath each letter. This is what mine looks like:

// I ended up moving the daffodils a bit up.

* Add a shadow to all the flowers.

* Go to the layer that is called “Letters Inner”, select the S with your magic wand. Then go to the layer with the flower shown in this letter (/in my case the pink tulips). X-out the flower and promote the selection to a layer. Deselect.

* Repeat this with all the letters.

* Go to layer “Letters Inner”. Select all/float/defloat and Invert. Then make a new layer beneath the top layer (/which is the promoted green paper). On this new layer add a drop shadow with these settings:

* Deselect.

* X-out the white background layer. Copy merged.

* Open a new canvas 800*600 px. Paste the merged wordart onto this canvas. Save.

* Open a flower plus the girl from the kit. Resize both to 25%.

* Add a shadow to all layers.

Supplies: Kit Forever And Ever by Lise-Lotte Sunesen. The kit can be bought here.

My template (PSD layered file). It can be downloaded here.

A scenic picture or mist of your choice.

* Open and duplicate the template. Save it. It will now be your working canvas.

* Open three papers, resize to 600*600 px. (Smartsize). C/p to your canvas just above layer “1″.

I use paper 1, 2 and 9 (blue) from kit Forever And Ever.

* Go to layer “2″, select, float, deselect. x-out the layer and then on paper 9 (blue), right click and promote selection to layer. x-out the original paper layer.

* Go to layer “3″ and repeat the last proces with paper 1. But don´t x-out this paper layer.

* I wanted a less pink background, so I placed paper 1 (the beige paper) above paper 2 (the pink paper) and lowered the opacity of the beige paper to 42.

The pink paper should now be the first (or lowest) layer, and the beige should be the next layer.

* Add a drop shadow to the two promoted selection layers.

This is what my tag looks like now:

*  Open your scenic picture or mist. C/p it onto the canvas just above the x-ed out layer “3″.

* On layer “3″ click inside the rectangle, expand the selection with 3 px.. Then go to the scenic picture/mist layer. Promote this layer to a selection. x-out the original scenic layer.

* Open lhsHEART_kitForeverAndEver_01. Resize to 17%.

C/p onto your canvas. Add a drop shadow to the heart. Then place it at the right bottom of the canvas.

* Open lhsSTRINGOFHEARTS_kitForeverAndEver_01. Resize to 17% and c/p it to the canvas.

Rotate it with 35 degrees to the left. It is still a bit too big, so resize it with 80%.

Add a drop shadow. I want to make this a perspective shadow, so remember to chose “Add On New Layer” when making the shadow.

* Go to the warp brush and with these settings:

warp the drop shadow under the bows. When satisfied, apply the warp.

* If you like: add your name or some other text part to your tag.

* Your tag is now finished! :)

Supplies: Glitter PSP tubes. Can be bought here.

PSP script “Vector Tube” by Pixel Nook. The script can be downloaded here.

* Install the glitter tube and the script.

First we are going to make a seamless glitter fill.

* Open a 300*300 px canvas.

* In the Picture Tube Tool find the glitter tube, you want to use. I use lhsGLITTERgreen01.

* “Paint” the canvas with glitter.

tut1

* x-out this layer.

* Make a new layer. “Paint” a thick stripe of glitter in the middle of the canvas.

tut2

* Move the stripe to the left, like this:

tut3

* Duplicate this layer.

* On the duplicate layer go to Effects/Image Effects/Offset with these settings:

tut4

* It looks like this now:

tut5

* Make a new layer. Repeat the process, this time with a horizontal stripe.

Screenshots from this process:

tut6

tut7tut8tut9* Make all layers visible.

* You now have a seamless  glitter pattern!

tut10

* Minimize your glitter pattern.

Now it is time to make the glitter text!

* Open a new canvas 3600*1000 px.

* Activate your text tool.

* In your background color, find the glitter fill in the drop down under the patterns.

tut11

* I write ”Christmas” with font Ariel with these settings:

tut12

* Keep it as a vector. Go to Objects/Align/Center In Canvas.

tut13

We now have a glitter text, but it does not look all that real. But we are going to change that now.

* Still keeping the text as a vector, go to Objects/Convert To Path.

* You have not used the Tube Tool since you made the glitter fill, so your glitter is still the selected tube there.

* You are now ready to run the “Vector Tube” script. Find it in the scripts drop down, and press the run button.

tut14

* Your text is now ready to be saved as a png.

This is a close up of the text:

Supplies:

Kit Joyful Times by Lise-Lotte Sunesen. Kit available here.

My template plus psp frame. You can download them here.

Eye Candy 5 Perspective Shadow (/can be substituted with PSP´s drop shadow)

* Unzip the zip file with the template and the frame.

* Install the frame like this: c/p the frame file  to c:/documents/MyPSP Files/Picture Frames

* Open the template, duplicate it, close the original and save your duplicate. This will now be our working canvas.

* Open paper 07, c/p it above layer 1 in your canvas.

Resize the paper layer with 75%. Remember to un-check the “resize all layers” option.

* c/p paper 03 above layer 2. Resize like before.

* Now lower the opacity of this layer and drag the paper so the boxes in the paper fit with the grey part of layer 3.

Mine looks like this:

tut1

* Go to layer 1,  select all/float/defloat, then go to the layer above it (/that would be the paper layer), and chose “promote selection to layer”.

x out the original paper layer and layer 1.

* Repeat with layer 2 and it´s paper layer.¨

* Go to the paper layer above layer 3. x out layer 3,  then on the paper layer with the selection tool (rectangle) make a selection around the middle section of the boxes.

If you use another paper follow the step described above instead.

I selected the boxes like this:

tut2

* Promote selection to layer. x out the original layer.

* It´s time to decide which paper to use for the scallop edged tag on the top. I decided to use solid paper Dark Brown. Repeat the steps from above:

Resize the paper with 75%, on layer 4 select all/float/defloat and then promote the selection on the paper layer. x out layer 4 and the original paper layer.

My card looks like this now:

tut3

* Open a poinsettia flower and a reindeer. Resize the flower with 50% and the reindeer with 40%.

They still look a little too big for the card so resize them both with 75%  also.

* Place the reindeer and flower to your liking. This is what I did:

tut4

* Go to layer 2´s promoted selection layer (/the striped paper). Chose Image/Picture Frame. Find frame lhsINKEDEDGES, apply this frame with these settings:
tut5

* Change the frame layers blend mode to Darken.

* Let´s add some “life” to this card with some shadows.

I used Eye Candy 5 Perspective Shadow with these settings on all layers (MINUS the frame layer – our inked edges):

tut6

* Your card is finished now, unless you want to add some text. I chose not to do this.

* Save your pspimage plus save it as a jpg.

lhsXmascard_tutorial

PRINTING your card!

* If you want to you can now print your card. Open the jpg and flip PLUS mirror the image. So the card is now both upside down and mirrored.

* Then go to Print and apply these settings:

tut8

* Close the jpg – do not save.

* Because we printed it upside down and mirrored, you can now easily fold your card.

Mine looks like this: (/I am sorry for the poor picture quality but there is absolutely no natural light here at this time and apparently my office lamp is not enough.)

tut9

* Cut away the excess with a scissor.

tut11

You now have a homemade Christmas card to send to your loved ones! :)

I hope, you enjoyed this tutorial!
